On the occasion of 28 May – Independence Day, an event was held in Ottawa
On the occasion of 28 May – Independence Day, a reception was held in Ottawa on 23 May 2026, jointly organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Canada and the Fund for Support to Azerbaijan Diaspora.
In addition to the Embassy staff, the event was attended by representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora and local community from Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, Hamilton, Vancouver, and Calgary, as well as Azerbaijani students studying in Ottawa.
During the event, remarks were delivered by Mr. Vusal Suleymanov, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Canada, and members of the Azerbaijani community. The speakers highlighted Azerbaijan’s history of independence, the process of state-building, and the country’s achievements in recent years.
The cultural programme featured performances of Azerbaijani national music, and guests were offered traditional Azerbaijani cuisine.
