Meeting with INKAS
On Thursday, April 14th, 2016, Chargé d'Affaires Mr. Ramil Huseynli and First Secretary Mr. Arif Mammadov met with CEO Mr. David Khazanski, COO Mr. David Fraser and VP of Marketing and Business Development Mr. Roman Shimonov of INKAS Group of Companies in Toronto. During the meeting, the future prospects of the AZCAN Company, which is a joint venture between Canada and Azerbaijan, were discussed.
On Saturday, April 23rd, the OCSB IL Turkish Program and the Turkish Canadian Heritage Language Association organized a "Children's Day" event on the occasion of the 96th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Parliament. Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey His Excellency Selcuk Unal and Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ramil Huseynli attended the event. During the event's program, the QarabaghAzerbaijani Language School students participated by performing national Azerbaijani dances, among performances by other schools.
93rd Anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev marked in Canada
On Friday, May 6th, the Embassy of Azerbaijan hosted an event with local Azerbaijani Diaspora members to celebrate the occasion of the 93rd anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev. Chargé d'Affaires Mr. Ramil Huseynli started the event by addressing the guests.
Vugar Gashimov Memorial Chess Tournament held in Calgary
On May 14th, the Alberta Azerbaijan Cultural Society (ALACS) held a Vugar Gashimov Memorial Chess Tournament in Calgary, in cooperation with the Alberta Chess Association and the Calgary Chess Club. The tournament consisted of an Open section for professional players and an Amateur section for amateur players, with 20 participants in each. The winner of the Open section was Ian Findlay (rating 2294) and the winner of Amateur section was 13 years old student, Raphael Libre. At the beginning of the tournament, the President of ALACS, Famil Garayev, gave an opening speech where he provided some brief information about Azerbaijan and Vugar Gashimov's life and personality.
Montreal Novruz Festival
On Saturday, May 14th, a Novruz Festival, which was organized by International Centre Tomyris, was held in Montreal. Consul Mr. Faig Babayev from the Embassy of Azerbaijan to Canada attended and addressed the event. The children of the Karabakh Azerbaijan Language School from Ottawa and the VetenSchool from Toronto performed national dances as part of the Festival program.
Republic Day marked in Ottawa
On Tuesday, May 24th, the Embassy of Azerbaijan to Canada hosted a reception on the occasion of the 98th Independence Day of the Republic ofAzerbaijan. Heads and representatives of diplomatic missions accredited to Canada, officials from the Canadian government and Global Affairs, friends of the Embassy and Azerbaijani Diaspora members from Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa attended the event. The Qarabagh Azerbaijan Language School sang the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Canada at the beginning of the event.
Chargé d'Affaires attends CANSEC
On May 26th, Chargé d'Affaires Mr. Ramil Huseynli attended Canada's premier defence show CANSEC. During the event, Mr. Huseynli visited the INKAS company booth, which recently launched a joint venture (AzCan) in Azerbaijan. CANSEC showcased leading-edge technology, products and services, and is the largest and most important defence industry event in Canada.
Flag Raising held in Calgary
On Friday, May 27th, the Alberta Azerbaijani Cultural Society (ALACS) organized the annual Azerbaijani Flag raising event in front of Calgary City Hall. President of ALACS, Famil Garayev, provided a short speech about the importance of the 28 May Republic Day for Azerbaijanis living in Azerbaijan and across the globe. Mr. Garayev also thanked City Hall reps for providing this unique opportunity for ALACS.
Flag Raising held in Ottawa
On Saturday, May 28th, the Embassy of Azerbaijan hosted a flag raising ceremony with members of the Azerbaijani Diaspora at Ottawa City Hall to celebrate the Republic Day of Azerbaijan. Chargé d'Affaires Mr. Ramil Huseynli opened the event with a few words, and then raised the flag to the Azerbaijani National Anthem.
Flag Raising held in Toronto
On Saturday, May 28th, the Embassy of Azerbaijan, together with the Veten Azerbaijan Art and Culture Centre, hosted a flag raising event to celebrate the Republic Day of Azerbaijan in front of City Hall in Toronto. Consul Mr. Faig Babayev opened the event by addressing the guests. The event brought together members of the Azerbaijan Diaspora in Toronto, and the Tabriz Dance Group performed national dances during the event.
Commemoration of National Hero Mubariz Ibrahimov
On Sunday, June 19th, the Embassy of Azerbaijan and the Karabakh Azerbaijani Language School in Ottawa organized an event with local Diaspora members to commemorate the 6th Anniversary of the death of National Hero Mubariz Ibrahimov. The event was held in Minto Park, where a tree was planted in his honour. The Karabakh Azerbaijani Language school students sang the National Anthem of Azerbaijan, and then Chargé d'Affaires Mr. Ramil Huseynli addressed the event.
